That means the aircraft we manage are in constant demand, which means your aircraft will be out there and generating an income that can offset your fixed operating costs. The expected yield from chartering is of course variable, and highly dependent on the availability of your aircraft, and indeed its size. The larger your aircraft, the fewer hours you will need to raise a profit – but even small jets can earn enough to substantially reduce your fixed operating costs.

You may choose to add your aircraft to Catreus’ commercial charter fleet under the operation of an Air Operators Certificate (AOC). This will provide you with the flexibility and freedom to use your aircraft when you need it and generate some additional return.

However, a ballpark estimate is that providing something like a Citation XLS for 600-700 hours of chartered flight would cover your fixed operating costs – and even provide a potential profit of £200,000, without any input or effort required on the part of the owner. If an aircraft can’t be made available for this level of time, potentially the return on investment from chartering won’t cover the fixed costs, but will at least mitigate against depreciation and take away some of the burden. For however many hours you are prepared to charter out your aircraft, Catreus’ excellent broker relationship means there will always be an opportunity.
